I came across an uncanny saying the other day. "less is more" the phrase alone may cast doubt on a contradiction but life itself shows you that there is some truth to this.
So i further began to examine the phrase and alas it all began to make sense. Have you ever closed your eyes for 5 minutes and upon opening them saw the world in a whole different light ? The scientific name for this phenomenon is called sensory deprivation, and basically shows that when something is deprived the other senses get heightened, and when restored the sense that was deprived is in a form of shock and awe.
Suppose we were to live a bit of each day with something less ....would we in turn get more? Follow me.
If i was to stop driving to work today but instead walked to work how is that getting more ? Well have you every been on journeys on the same route hundreds of times in a car but when you step out of the car the pespective of the road traveled changes exponentially ? Its like an awaking of the senses it feels almost new.
I think people should challenge themselves into depravity so that we can develop habits of gratitutude. Fasting itself as a practice is not only for religious dedication but in turn makes the heart more grateful for that which was deprived.
What do you think? Should we be in a state of less to get more out of life ? This makes me also wonder if i need to take periodical getaways from my significant other to keep my appreciation in tip top shape lol.
